Shape your serenity

Where minds and souls find peace and inspiration through clay.
Come retreat in clay-work at Pangaea Farms
Little Falls Pottery Retreat offers an escape and ability to slow down from the rush of everyday life. Here, you'll discover the meditative benefits of working with clay in a serene, natural setting. Upstate New York is the most beautiful region during summer, and this farm is nestled in an amazing part of New York.
Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to deepen your ceramic skills, or simply wanting to have a place to spend unlimited hours on your dedicated pottery wheel work-station, our immersive workshops create space for mindful making and creative expression. Each session combines hands-on learning with peaceful surroundings that complement creativity. You'll receive both group and individual instruction every day during your stay to ensure you get the building blocks for clay preparation and wheel work

From hourly sessions to one-day workshops or extended multi-day retreat experiences, we provide all the tools, guidance, and tranquil atmosphere you need to craft both beautiful pottery and lasting memories. Located at a working honey production farm known as Pangaea Farms in Little Falls, New York, you'll create in harmony with the gentle rhythms of farm life.
Our workshops focus on wheel throwing, with hand building techniques also part of the curriculum. Whether you prefer the meditative rhythm of the wheel or the freedom of hand-building, you'll have flexibility to explore both approaches. Bring your favorite tools, or use our well-equipped studio tools available onsite. We have an electric kiln for bisque and glaze firing up to cone 6, plus a propane raku kiln where you'll create finished raku pieces to take home. Premade bisqued raku clay pieces can also be brought to fire!

There will be times that we invite master potters for special retreats, so sign up for our newsletter and stay tuned for those opportunities which will be very exclusive!

For 2026, we're planning to offer hourly and day-long classes. We'll ease into retreat stays with several weekends blocked for two-day retreats between May and September. Two-day retreats will include access to our studio for two full days and restful sleep in your private air-conditioned cabin to ensure the most comfortable night's sleep you've had in years. Clear nights will feature a campfire in our fire pit. Understanding that most guests don't want to leave after experiencing a night of rejuvenating sleep, we're open to special requests for extended stays.

In 2027, we’ll continue to offer hourly and day-long experiences and plan to expand into multi-day retreats. We are currently accepting reservations for 2027!

If you’re looking to host a special weekend retreat outside of claywork, we welcome inquiries about availability. Our spacious farm can accommodate other art forms, yoga, rejuvenation, fitness, or similar gatherings. Reach out at info@littlefallspotteryretreat.com.

Nestled just a few miles outside the heart of Little Falls, Pangaea Farms is an ever-expanding property with a very simple mission: happiness and rejuvenation.
Pangaea is a working farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture and chemical-free honey production, teaching and making clay products, local Herkimer diamond mining, and other trades. The surrounding lands are picturesque rolling fields providing a peaceful atmosphere that serves as the perfect backdrop for creative retreat experiences.
Our farm specializes in beekeeping and honey making, creating pure, local honey that reflects the natural sweetness of the surrounding landscape. The same care and attention that goes into tending the hives extends to every aspect of farm life, fostering an environment of mindfulness and connection to nature. We will have recently harvested honey onsite for your stay and provide beekeeping overviews to any potter who is interested.
At Pangaea Farms, the rhythm of the seasons guides daily life, creating a space where visitors can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with both their creativity and the natural world around them.
Guests are welcome to explore the 20 acre farm that contains a flowing stream and trails, or to unwind in our treehouse cabin under the shade of summer listening to birds while reading or relaxing.  Our sunsets are only second to Key West - guests will discover amazing sunset views perfect for memorable photographs.
Little Falls Pottery Retreat Logomark
Dan is your host at Pangaea Farms. A licensed New York State Professional Geologist by trade, he has spent his career studying how groundwater moves through soils, rock, and varied sediments—including the clay deposited in places across New York's landscape during the last period of glaciation 14,000 years ago. His education, professional work and deep connection to the earth naturally led him to pottery.

Beyond clay work, the team expanded beekeeping operations during 2025 to now 16 production hives in 2025 that produced 1,000 pounds of honey (!!) with plans to continue caring for these precious bees. As part of your stay, you'll have opportunities to learn about beekeeping, taste fresh honey, and even try candle making if you desire more than clay work!

Dan has mined a local quartz gem known as Herkimer diamonds for over 30 years. Retreat guests interested in collecting these striking water-clear gems can explore this ‘only place in the world’ occurrence just a few miles from the farm. Miner-guided experiences and/or purchases of rare ‘herks’ can be arranged. Whether you're drawn to clay, honey, or herkimer diamonds, Dan's passion for the land and its gifts creates the perfect foundation for your creative retreat.
